Andreas Christensen, the Danish defender for FC Barcelona, has suffered a recurrence of his right soleus injury. Just three days after being medically cleared to resume training, Christensen experienced discomfort during a session, leading to his early withdrawal. Barcelona's head coach, Hansi Flick, acknowledged the setback, stating, "Andreas has been injured and we have to wait and see how serious it is. Let's hope it's not [serious]."

This latest injury is expected to sideline Christensen for approximately three to four weeks, causing him to miss upcoming fixtures, including both legs of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 against Benfica.

Christensen's season has been marred by injuries. After playing just 26 minutes in the season opener against Valencia, he was sidelined due to an Achilles tendon issue that required surgery. His return was further delayed by a muscle problem, and although he was recently cleared to play, this new injury prolongs his absence.

Barcelona currently leads LaLiga with 54 points, tied with Real Madrid, and remains active in both the Copa del Rey and Champions League. Manager Hansi Flick has expressed concerns over the congested fixture schedule, emphasizing the need to rotate players to manage workloads effectively.
