Dele Momodu Shares Throwback Photo of Nyesom Wike and New Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas

Renowned journalist and publisher, Dele Momodu, recently shared a throwback photograph featuring Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), alongside Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the newly appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State.

The photograph, which Momodu posted on his social media platforms, has sparked discussions regarding the past associations between Wike and Ibas. This comes in the wake of President Bola Tinubu's declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State and the subsequent appointment of Vice Admiral Ibas as the state's Sole Administrator. 

The political landscape in Rivers State has been tumultuous recently, highlighted by the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the deployment of military personnel to the Government House in Port Harcourt. 

Nyesom Wike has had a notable political journey, serving as the Executive Chairman of Obio Akpor Local Government Area from 1999 to 2007, Chief of Staff to Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and Minister of State for Education under President Goodluck Jonathan. He was elected Governor of Rivers State in 2015 and re-elected in 2019. In July 2023, President Tinubu nominated Wike for a ministerial position, leading to his current role as Minister of the FCT. 

Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, prior to his recent appointment as Sole Administrator, served as the Chief of Naval Staff in Nigeria. His military career has been distinguished by various leadership roles within the Nigerian Navy.
