Enzo Maresca Defends Cole Palmer After Penalty Miss, Reveals Midfielder Was Unwell

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca addressed Cole Palmer's penalty miss in the team's recent 1-0 victory over Leicester City, revealing that Palmer had been unwell the previous night.

Maresca emphasized the player's commitment, stating, "He didn't feel well in the night. The people need to understand the effort he made to be there. Cole is a top player. Everything is normal now." 

Despite Palmer's missed penalty—the first of his Premier League career after converting his previous 12 attempts—Chelsea secured the win with a goal from Marc Cucurella in the 60th minute. This victory elevated Chelsea to fourth place in the Premier League standings.

Palmer, who has been a pivotal figure for Chelsea this season with 14 goals and six assists, has experienced a dip in form, failing to score in his last eight matches. Maresca's comments highlight the player's dedication and the challenges he has faced recently.
