Enzo Maresca Confirms Malo Gusto's Fitness Ahead of Leicester Clash
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided an encouraging update on Malo Gusto's fitness following the club’s 2-1 victory over FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Conference League.

The French full-back, who started on the left side of defence, was forced off in the 25th minute after appearing to suffer an ankle injury. Although he initially attempted to continue after receiving medical attention, he was eventually replaced by Marc Cucurella.

Speaking after the match, Maresca reassured fans about Gusto's condition, stating, "He's okay, he's better. They just told me he can be ready for Sunday's game, so hopefully we can have him." His comments suggest the 20-year-old may be available for Chelsea’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Leicester City.

Injury Scare and Substitution

Gusto’s injury scare came early in the first half when he seemed to twist his ankle. Despite receiving treatment and having his ankle strapped, he aggravated the issue while attempting to block a cross, which ultimately led to his substitution.

His potential availability for Sunday’s game will be a significant boost for Chelsea, particularly as they have had to manage multiple defensive injuries in recent weeks.

Tactical Changes and Key Performances

During the match against Copenhagen, Maresca made key adjustments at halftime, introducing Reece James, Christopher Nkunku, and Enzo Fernández. These substitutions proved crucial, as James and Fernández both found the net to secure the win. However, Copenhagen’s Gabriel Pereira pulled one back late in the game, keeping the Danish side’s hopes alive ahead of the return leg at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will now shift their focus to their Premier League fixture against Leicester, with optimism that Gusto will recover in time to be involved.
