Jude Okoye, the former manager of the renowned Nigerian music duo P-Square, was granted bail by the Federal High Court in Lagos on March 3, 2025. Justice Alexander Owoeye set the bail at ₦100 million, with two sureties in like sum; one must possess verifiable business interests and landed property within the court's jurisdiction. Additionally, Okoye is restricted from traveling outside Nigeria during his trial and will remain at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility until bail conditions are met.
Okoye, alongside his company Northside Music Limited, faces allegations of money laundering involving ₦1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) accuses them of acquiring a property at No. 5 Tony Eromosele Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos, valued at ₦850 million in 2022, using proceeds suspected to be from unlawful activities. Further allegations include the conversion of $1,019,762.87 held in a Northside Music Ltd Access Bank account into naira, subsequently transferred across various accounts to conceal its illicit origin.
Despite these charges, Okoye maintains his innocence, having pleaded not guilty during the arraignment. The trial is scheduled for May 16 and 23, 2025.
