Juventus Sack Thiago Motta as Head Coach, Appoint Igor Tudor
Juventus Football Club has officially dismissed Thiago Motta from his role as head coach following a series of poor performances that have left the team in a precarious position in Serie A. The decision comes after consecutive heavy defeats, including a 4-0 loss to Atalanta and a 3-0 defeat to Fiorentina, which saw the club drop to fifth place in the league standings.
Motta, who took over as Juventus manager in June 2024, initially brought hope of a resurgence but struggled to meet the club’s high expectations. During his tenure, Juventus endured early eliminations from both the UEFA Champions League and the Coppa Italia, resulting in growing frustration among fans and management.
Igor Tudor Appointed as New Head Coach
In response to Motta’s departure, Juventus has appointed Igor Tudor as the new head coach on a contract running until June 2025. Tudor, a former Juventus player, previously worked as an assistant coach at the club during the 2020-2021 season. He has also held managerial roles at Udinese, Hellas Verona, and most recently, Lazio.
The club’s hierarchy expressed optimism about Tudor’s appointment, expecting him to lead the team to a top-four finish and secure qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League. Tudor is set to begin training with the squad on March 24, 2025.
