Pep Guardiola Confirms Nathan Aké to Miss Up to 11 Weeks Following Foot Surgery

Manchester City defender Nathan Aké is set to be sidelined for approximately 10 to 11 weeks following surgery to repair a foot fracture, manager Pep Guardiola confirmed on Friday.
Aké, 30, has been grappling with foot issues throughout the season and aggravated the injury during last Saturday's FA Cup victory over Plymouth Argyle, leading to his substitution at halftime.

Guardiola acknowledged the severity of the situation, stating, "When you have surgery it's serious. He has struggled a lot this season with the problems in his feet."

This development further strains Manchester City's defensive lineup, with key players John Stones and Manuel Akanji also sidelined due to injuries. Stones suffered a thigh injury during the Champions League match against Real Madrid, potentially ending his season, while Akanji is expected to miss eight to ten weeks following surgery for a groin injury.

In response to these challenges, Guardiola has indicated that players unable to meet the physical demands of the team's schedule due to recurring injuries may face uncertain futures at the club.

Despite these setbacks, Manchester City remains focused on securing a top-four finish in the Premier League to ensure Champions League qualification for the next season. They currently sit fourth in the league standings, one point behind third-placed Nottingham Forest, whom they face in an upcoming fixture.

Guardiola emphasized the team's resilience, stating, "Pressure is always there in big clubs. You have to pressure yourself to do your best no matter what you're playing for."
