Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party's presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, was in attendance at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo as Nigeria’s Super Eagles played out a 1-1 draw against the Warriors of Zimbabwe in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The Super Eagles took the lead in the 74th minute when Victor Osimhen found the net with a well-placed header, sending the home fans into celebration. However, Nigeria was denied all three points after Zimbabwe’s Tawanda Chirewa struck a late equalizer in the 90th minute, securing a crucial point for the visitors.
The result, however, is a setback for Nigeria, who now face increased pressure to secure wins in their remaining qualifiers to boost their chances of advancing. The Super Eagles will need to regroup quickly as they prepare for their next fixture.
