Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) official English social media account recently took a playful jab at Liverpool following the Reds' consecutive defeats in European and domestic competitions. On March 11, 2025, PSG eliminated Liverpool from the UEFA Champions League in a penalty shootout at Anfield. Ousmane Dembélé scored the only goal in regular time, leveling the aggregate score at 1-1. PSG triumphed 4-1 in the shootout, with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma making crucial saves against Darwin Núñez and Curtis Jones.

Just five days later, on March 16, 2025, Liverpool faced Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium. Newcastle secured a 2-1 victory, marking their first domestic trophy in 70 years. Dan Burn opened the scoring with a header just before halftime, and Alexander Isak doubled the lead in the 52nd minute. Liverpool's Federico Chiesa scored a late goal in stoppage time, but it wasn't enough to overturn the deficit.

During the Carabao Cup final, a Liverpool supporter was spotted wearing a PSG cap, a moment that quickly circulated on social media. PSG's official English account responded to the image with the comment, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em," accompanied by a smirking emoji.
