The tribute also extended to David García de la Loma, a referee in Spain's fourth tier, who died at the age of 31 on Wednesday.

Both teams donned black armbands as a further mark of respect. Real Madrid’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, expressed his condolences after the match, saying, "Before starting, I want to send a hug to the families of Dr. Miñarro and referee García de la Loma. We are very sorry."
