Wojciech Szczęsny is set to extend his contract with FC Barcelona by one year, securing his stay at the club until June 2026. This decision follows the Polish goalkeeper's successful stint at Barcelona, which began in October 2024 after Marc-André ter Stegen's injury. Since joining, Szczęsny has made an impressive contribution, remaining unbeaten with 14 wins and two draws, while keeping eight clean sheets. His leadership on and off the field has earned him respect from both his teammates and coach Hansi Flick.

The extension, structured as a one-year contract with an optional additional year, comes as a reflection of Barcelona's satisfaction with his performance and Szczęsny’s eagerness to continue his journey with the club. Negotiations between his representative, Joshua Barnett, and Barcelona's sporting director Deco facilitated the deal.

Szczęsny's career path to Barcelona is notable. After briefly retiring following the European Championship, he made a comeback to provide support for the club during Ter Stegen’s absence. With a wealth of experience from his time at Arsenal, Roma, and Juventus, Szczęsny brings valuable depth to Barcelona’s goalkeeping squad. With Ter Stegen returning to full fitness, the upcoming season promises exciting competition for the starting goalkeeper position, ultimately benefiting the team's performance.
