Arne Slot confirmed that Alisson Becker was absent for Liverpool's Merseyside derby against Everton on Wednesday due to concussion protocols.

Alisson suffered a concussion following a collision with Davinson Sánchez during Brazil's recent international match against Colombia. While he had been training with the team, Slot explained that a final assessment was needed to determine his fitness, resulting in his exclusion from the matchday squad.

In Alisson's place, Caoimhín Kelleher started in goal, continuing to impress with his performances this season. Slot acknowledged that while Alisson's experience is crucial for the team, Kelleher has consistently met expectations, offering Liverpool two capable goalkeepers.

This absence adds to Liverpool's ongoing injury concerns, with key players like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley also sidelined. Despite these challenges, Slot emphasized the importance of adapting and maintaining the team's performance in the face of these setbacks.
