Atlético Madrid secured a vital 4-2 victory against bottom-placed Real Valladolid at the Metropolitano Stadium, maintaining their pursuit of the La Liga title. The win elevates Atlético to 63 points, positioning them just three points behind Real Madrid and seven behind league leaders Barcelona.

The match commenced with Valladolid taking an early lead in the 21st minute through a penalty converted by Mamadou Sylla, following a handball by Clément Lenglet. Atlético responded swiftly; Giuliano Simeone was fouled in the box, leading to Julián Álvarez equalizing from the spot in the 25th minute. Just two minutes later, Simeone capitalized on a rebound to put Atlético ahead 2-1.

In the second half, Valladolid leveled the score at 2-2 in the 56th minute when Javi Sánchez's free-kick deflected off Conor Gallagher, wrong-footing goalkeeper Jan Oblak. However, Atlético regained the lead in the 71st minute as Álvarez netted his second penalty of the match after Marcos Llorente was brought down in the area. Substitute Alexander Sørloth sealed the victory in the 82nd minute, scoring from close range after a rebound.

The match was attended by 55,936 spectators, who braved the rainy conditions to support their teams. This victory marks Atlético's eighth consecutive home win against Valladolid in La Liga. While Atlético continues to challenge for the title, Valladolid remains at the bottom of the table with 16 points, facing a daunting task to avoid relegation with only seven games remaining.
