Barcelona’s goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny has openly admitted to his ongoing battle with smoking, describing it as a personal struggle he has not yet overcome. In a recent interview, the 35-year-old stated, "I've lost the fight," referring to the long-standing habit he developed in his youth.
Despite maintaining a professional image on and off the pitch, Szczęsny acknowledged that smoking is one area where he has failed to be a positive example. He urged fans, especially the younger generation, saying, "Please do not follow me and don't do it."
Since joining Barcelona in October, Szczęsny has made 25 appearances and has quickly become a fan favorite. The team has only suffered one defeat during this period. Interestingly, his candidness about smoking has sparked humorous chants from supporters, including "Szczęsny fumador" during matches.
In the world of football, where players often avoid revealing personal weaknesses, Szczęsny’s honesty stands out. He explained, "I'm just a goalkeeper. I have to catch a ball and kick it. It's much, much easier to keep up with your previous interviews if you're just honest and you never lie and you're just open."
