The match saw goals from Leroy Sané, Michael Olise, and Eric Dier. Sané opened the scoring in the 18th minute, capitalizing on a brief numerical advantage due to an injury to Mainz's Anthony Caci.
Olise doubled the lead before halftime with a precise strike, and Dier sealed the win in the second half with a header assisted by Olise.
Despite the win, Bayern couldn't secure the title as Bayer Leverkusen also won their match against Augsburg 2-0, maintaining the title race. Bayern now leads the table with 75 points, eight ahead of Leverkusen, with three matches remaining. A victory in their next game against RB Leipzig would guarantee them the championship.
However, Bayern will face Leipzig without Harry Kane, who received his fifth yellow card of the season during the Mainz match, resulting in a one-match suspension.
