Carlo Ancelotti Confirms Thibaut Courtois Could Return Against Arsenal as Andriy Lunin Faces Doubt Ahead of Champions League Clash

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has offered a positive update regarding Thibaut Courtois's fitness, suggesting the goalkeeper could return in time for Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Arsenal. Courtois, who has been dealing with injury issues, is expected to miss the upcoming LaLiga match against Valencia but may be ready for the key European fixture. Ancelotti said, “Courtois is much better; we think he can make it on Tuesday.”

Meanwhile, Real Madrid is facing uncertainty with their second-choice goalkeeper, Andriy Lunin, who sustained a calf muscle injury during the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Real Sociedad. Ancelotti acknowledged the concern by stating, “We have doubts about Lunin, who had a slight discomfort. If he's not well, I have total confidence in Fran.”

If both Courtois and Lunin are unavailable, 19-year-old Fran González is likely to be called upon. Ancelotti expressed trust in the young keeper’s abilities, underscoring the team’s readiness to rely on him if necessary. Despite ongoing injury challenges, Real Madrid remains competitive in all tournaments this season, closely trailing Barcelona in LaLiga and preparing for the Copa del Rey final.
