Manchester United head coach Rúben Amorim has offered a fitness update on midfielder Mason Mount ahead of their highly anticipated clash with Manchester City at Old Trafford.
Amorim revealed that Mount is physically ready to be included in the starting lineup, but also highlighted the importance of managing the player's return sensibly. He stated, “Yes, he is fit enough to start, but we must manage him.”
The Portuguese manager pointed out that Mount has been working hard in training, gradually building his physical readiness. However, Amorim noted that mental preparedness also plays a key role in a player's return to competitive action. He added, “Mason has trained a lot of times, getting the load in his body. Sometimes the mind is more important than the body. He is fit to play, and we will see on Sunday.”
Mount’s return to fitness could be a timely boost for Manchester United as they gear up for a crucial Premier League encounter with Manchester City on Sunday, April 6. His availability offers Amorim an additional option in midfield as the Red Devils aim for a strong performance in the derby.
