CSD Grants Barcelona Appeal, Allowing Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor to Stay Registered Until Season’s End

The Spanish Higher Sports Council (CSD) has upheld FC Barcelona's appeal, permitting players Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor to remain registered with the club until the conclusion of the current season. This decision overturns the prior ruling by LaLiga, which had deregistered the players due to the club's alleged failure to meet Financial Fair Play (FFP) requirements.
The controversy originated from a disputed €100 million income from VIP box sales at the new Camp Nou. Initially, this income allowed Barcelona to comply with salary cap thresholds. However, LaLiga later contended that this income was not reflected in the club’s official accounts, leading to the deregistration of Olmo and Víctor.

In response, the CSD determined that the joint commission of LaLiga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) lacked the authority to deny the players' registration, citing procedural errors and an overextension of their jurisdiction. Consequently, the CSD annulled the commission's decision, thereby reinstating the players' registrations until June 30.

The CSD emphasized that its resolution does not address issues related to LaLiga's economic control or FFP regulations, which remain under the purview of LaLiga's internal bodies. Additionally, the RFEF acknowledged that no official resolution had been issued to cancel the players' licenses, further supporting their continued registration.

This decision allows Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor to participate in all competitions with FC Barcelona for the remainder of the season. However, their registration status for the upcoming season remains uncertain, pending further developments related to the club's financial standing and compliance with FFP regulations.
