The decisive goal came from an own goal by Leganés defender Jorge Sáenz, who inadvertently deflected a Raphinha cross intended for Robert Lewandowski into his own net.
Despite the narrow scoreline, Barcelona dominated possession and maintained a solid defensive performance, with goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny earning his 12th clean sheet of the season. The win extended their unbeaten streak to 12 matches in LaLiga and increased their lead at the top of the table to seven points over second-placed Real Madrid.
However, the match was marred by an injury to left-back Alejandro Balde, who was forced off in the first half. Barcelona coach Hansi Flick provided an update on Balde's condition, stating, “Alejandro Balde is not feeling very well. We will see what the tests say tomorrow.”
Meanwhile Barcelona will face Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Signal Iduna Park.
