Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has been ruled out of the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie against Real Madrid after sustaining a rib injury during the recent 1-1 draw with Brentford.
The 33-year-old experienced breathing difficulties following the injury and received immediate medical attention. Club doctors have since confirmed that he will be sidelined for several weeks. However, there is optimism within the club that the injury is not season-ending.
In addition to Jorginho’s absence, there are concerns surrounding Thomas Partey, who was also substituted during the Brentford match due to discomfort. His availability for the crucial clash in Madrid remains uncertain.
Despite holding a 3-0 lead from the first leg, manager Mikel Arteta is aware of the challenges ahead, especially given the recent injury setbacks. Arsenal will look to seal their place in the semi-finals, where they could potentially face either Paris Saint-Germain or Aston Villa.
