Inter Miami CF and Royal Caribbean International have once again partnered to bring joy and hope to children facing critical illnesses. This April, during World Wish Month, the two organizations collaborated with Make-A-Wish to fulfill the heartfelt wishes of 23 children, creating unforgettable memories for them and their families.
The initiative, spanning four days from April 12 to April 15, marked the second full-team Make-A-Wish event hosted by Inter Miami CF and Royal Caribbean. The first such event took place in September 2024, solidifying their commitment to making a positive impact. This year, the children and their families traveled from across the country to meet the Inter Miami CF First Team, including Club captain Lionel Messi.
The experience began aboard Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas, where the children enjoyed a day of adventure as part of the company's "Wishes at Sea" program. The excitement continued on the pitch, where the children watched the team practice, took photos with players, and even participated in a post-game press conference. The players, including Fafà Picault and Yannick Bright, engaged with the children, asking them fun and thoughtful questions, and sharing in their joy.
This initiative highlights the transformative power of granting wishes. According to the Make-A-Wish 2022 Wish Impact Survey, fulfilling wishes can significantly improve the emotional and physical well-being of children facing trauma from critical illnesses. Pediatric doctors have noted that wishes can serve as a coping mechanism and even improve medical outcomes.
Samantha Riepe, Vice President of Marketing at Royal Caribbean International, expressed her gratitude for being part of this meaningful collaboration. "Helping wish kids and their families build memories to last a lifetime is at the core of Royal Caribbean’s Wishes at Sea program and our multiyear partnership with Make-A-Wish. We are inspired by these families and love being a small part of making their wishes a reality," she said.
