Matheus Cunha has become a primary target for Manchester United, as the Premier League giants lead the race to sign the Wolverhampton Wanderers forward. Negotiations between both parties are ongoing, with the Red Devils currently discussing personal terms with the Brazilian’s representatives.
Despite Cunha recently signing a new contract that runs until 2029, his deal includes a £62.5 million release clause—an element that has opened the door for serious interest from top clubs. Manchester United are well aware that they face competition, as several other Premier League sides, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur, are also monitoring the situation closely.
The 25-year-old has impressed this season as Wolves' top scorer, netting 15 goals in all competitions. His versatility and attacking output have made him an ideal fit for United’s tactical setup under new manager Rúben Amorim, who favours a 3-4-2-1 system that relies heavily on adaptable forwards like Cunha.
While Newcastle have already made contact with the player's camp, sources indicate that Cunha is inclined towards a move to one of the Premier League’s traditional top-six clubs, potentially giving Manchester United an edge in the pursuit.
With the summer transfer window approaching, United are expected to step up efforts to finalise the deal, particularly as Wolves may be open to offers that meet the forward’s release clause.
