Ikorodu City Players Held Hostage After Tense Draw Against Shooting Stars
In a shocking turn of events, players and officials of Ikorodu City Football Club were held hostage by irate fans of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) following a goalless draw in the Southwest derby. The match, held at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, ended in chaos as fans vented their frustration by throwing objects at the referee and confronting the visiting team.

The tense atmosphere escalated after the match concluded, with Shooting Stars fans reportedly damaging the Ikorodu City team bus and injuring some of their traveling supporters. Veteran broadcaster Charles Anazodo confirmed that the referee was physically attacked during the fray.
The situation reached a boiling point as the Ikorodu City team and match officials were forced to huddle in the dressing room for nearly 90 minutes, with all lights in the facility switched off. It was only after military intervention, facilitated by an Oyo State government official, that the team was safely escorted out of the stadium.
Suleiman Adebayo, a director at Ikorodu City, described the ordeal as "hell" but expressed gratitude for the team's safety. "Soldiers rescued Ikorodu City players and officials from Ibadan after the draw with Shooting Stars. Thank God for safety," he said.

The goalless draw has left Shooting Stars in fourth place in the league standings with 48 points, while Ikorodu City remains sixth with 46 points after 32 matches.
