PSG Suffer Defeat to Nice in Ligue 1
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) faced a disappointing 3-1 defeat to OGC Nice at the Parc des Princes today, marking their first loss in Ligue 1 for the 2024-25 season. Despite dominating possession with 76% and registering 32 shots, including 13 on target, PSG were unable to convert their chances, and Nice capitalized on their opportunities.
The match began with Morgan Sanson opening the scoring for Nice in the 35th minute. Although PSG responded quickly, with Fabián Ruiz equalizing, Nice regained the lead just after halftime when Sanson scored his second goal of the match. Youssouf Ndayishimiye sealed the victory for Nice in the 70th minute with a third goal.
While PSG's defeat doesn't affect their position in the league—they've already secured the Ligue 1 title earlier this month—they remain at the top with 78 points. On the other hand, Nice's victory lifts them to fourth place, with 54 points, strengthening their hopes for Champions League qualification.
This loss ends PSG's impressive 30-game unbeaten streak in the league, a significant blow for the team and their fans.
