Thomas Müller has announced that he will leave FC Bayern Munich at the end of the season after spending 25 years with the club.
Reflecting on his time at Bayern, Müller expressed immense gratitude, stating, "My 25 years as a player for FC Bayern will come to an end this summer. It has been an incredible journey, marked by unique experiences and unforgettable triumphs."
Müller began his career at Bayern Munich in 2000, joining their youth ranks at just 10 years old. He made his senior debut in 2008 and went on to become one of the club's most successful players, winning 12 Bundesliga titles, six DFB-Pokal trophies, and two UEFA Champions League titles. Müller also played a key role in Germany’s 2014 World Cup victory.
In recent seasons, however, Müller’s playing time has been reduced under coach Thomas Tuchel, which led to discussions about his future at the club. Reports have suggested that Bayern has chosen not to renew his contract, which expires in June. While Müller had hoped for a different outcome, he accepted the club's decision, stating his desire to continue playing.
To honor his long tenure, FC Bayern Munich plans to hold a farewell match for Müller. Club president Herbert Hainer praised the forward's immense contributions, saying, "Thomas is an absolute Bayern icon and a player with great merits here. We all want him to finish his career in Munich."
