Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans Set to Leave Manchester United at End of Season

Manchester United is preparing for a summer reshuffle, with experienced players Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans expected to leave the club once their current contracts expire.
Heaton, 38, returned to Old Trafford in 2021 and has operated as the club’s third-choice goalkeeper. Despite his wealth of experience, he has made just three appearances in three seasons and did not feature at all during the 2023–24 campaign. Although discussions had previously taken place regarding a contract extension, the veteran shot-stopper is now anticipated to depart in search of more consistent playing time elsewhere.

Evans, 36, rejoined United last summer after leaving Leicester City. Originally brought in to maintain his fitness levels, he ended up earning a one-year contract and featured in 30 matches across all competitions. He also came off the bench in the FA Cup final win over Manchester City. Despite earlier talks about a potential extension, the Northern Irish defender is now expected to exit the club, with retirement possibly on the horizon.

Their departures form part of a wider overhaul under new manager Rúben Amorim. Reports suggest that as many as eleven players could leave this summer, including Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelöf, as well as loaned-out stars such as Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony. The club aims to refresh the squad and align with financial fair play regulations ahead of the upcoming campaign.
