Wesley Fofana has suffered another injury setback, with Chelsea confirming that the French defender will undergo assessments in the coming days to determine the severity of the issue.
The 23-year-old was absent from Chelsea’s squad during their Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, raising concerns over his fitness. While the club has not disclosed specific details regarding the injury, this latest setback adds to Fofana’s ongoing struggles with fitness since his move from Leicester City.
Fofana only recently returned to action last month following a 12-week spell on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury. His time at Stamford Bridge has been marred by multiple injuries, including missing the entire 2023-24 season and featuring in just one of Chelsea’s first 13 league games this campaign.
With Fofana unavailable, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca will have to reshuffle his defensive setup. Potential options include Trevoh Chalobah or Tosin Adarabioyo partnering Levi Colwill as the Blues look to maintain defensive solidity in their upcoming fixtures.
