Antony in Tears as Former Teammate Sancho Consoles Him After Betis Fall in Final

Real Betis winger Antony was reduced to tears after his side suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in the UEFA Conference League final in Wrocław. The Brazilian, on loan from Manchester United, was comforted by his former teammate Jadon Sancho at the final whistle, in an emotional moment that highlighted the heartbreak of the occasion.
Antony had been a bright spark for Betis throughout their European campaign and helped them take an early lead in the final through a goal from Abde Ezzalzouli. However, Chelsea took control in the second half, scoring four unanswered goals through Enzo Fernández, Nicolas Jackson, Sancho, and Moisés Caicedo to secure the trophy.

Frustration boiled over for Antony during the match, as he was shown a yellow card after clashing with Fernández. Despite the result, the 24-year-old has enjoyed a strong loan spell at Betis, scoring nine goals in 26 appearances and rediscovering his form after a difficult spell at Old Trafford.

Speaking about his experience at Betis, Antony previously said, “At Real Betis, I can say I found myself again. It's about the happiness. Every day I wake up smiling and I go to sleep smiling.” However, hopes of making the move permanent may be dashed due to Betis's financial limitations and Manchester United’s reluctance to lower their asking price.
