The development has intensified speculation about the Portuguese forward’s future with the Saudi Pro League club, despite his impressive individual performance this season—scoring 33 goals in 39 appearances.
Although Ronaldo had been widely expected to sign a contract extension, potentially keeping him at the club until 2026 on a €200 million-per-year deal, recent events appear to have stalled negotiations. Reports suggest that his visible frustration following Al Nassr’s 2–3 defeat to league leaders Al Ittihad—where he left the stadium in his kit without entering the dressing room—may have contributed to the current impasse.
Al Nassr’s season has also been underwhelming, with the team falling short in major competitions and likely to miss out on the next AFC Champions League. Their recent 0–9 loss to Al Okhdood, in a match Ronaldo did not feature, has further highlighted the club’s struggles.
Ronaldo’s current contract runs until June 2025. With renewal talks on hold, his future remains uncertain, sparking speculation over a potential move to rivals such as Al Hilal or even a return to Europe.
