Borussia Dortmund secured a crucial 4-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen today, Sunday, May 11, 2025, in a Bundesliga clash at the BayArena. This win not only spoiled Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso's final home game but also significantly boosted Dortmund's hopes for a top-four finish and Champions League qualification.
After conceding an early goal to Jeremie Frimpong in the 31st minute, Dortmund responded swiftly with Julian Brandt equalizing just two minutes later. Julian Ryerson then gave Dortmund the lead before halftime. In the second half, Karim Adeyemi and Serhou Guirassy extended the lead, making it 4-1. Although Jonas Hofmann pulled one back for Leverkusen in stoppage time, Dortmund held on for the win.

This victory marks Dortmund's sixth win in their last seven league matches, propelling them from 11th to 5th place in the Bundesliga standings. They now sit just one point behind fourth-placed Freiburg, keeping their Champions League aspirations alive heading into the final matchday.
