Evangelos Marinakis Confronts Nuno Espírito Santo on Pitch After Nottingham Forest's Draw with Leicester

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis did enter the pitch at full time following the team’s 2-2 draw against Leicester City on May 11, 2025, to confront manager Nuno Espírito Santo. The incident has attracted widespread criticism.

Forest had initially taken the lead with goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood, but they conceded a late equaliser from Facundo Buonanotte, putting their Champions League qualification hopes in jeopardy. The result left them seventh in the Premier League, trailing Chelsea and Aston Villa by one point with just two games remaining.

Marinakis, visibly furious, approached Nuno on the pitch, reportedly over confusion surrounding a late substitution for the injured Taiwo Awoniyi. Nuno later clarified that the issue stemmed from a misunderstanding between the coaching and medical teams.

The owner's public outburst was condemned by pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville, who described the behaviour as "scandalous." Neville even suggested that Nuno should consider resigning immediately.

This isn’t the first time Marinakis has acted in such a manner—he previously stormed the pitch after a 2024 defeat to Liverpool.
