Former Arsenal star Jack Wilshere has parted ways with Norwich City after being snubbed for the club’s permanent managerial role—despite an impressive unbeaten stint as interim boss.
Wilshere, who joined Norwich in October 2024 as a first-team coach, was handed the reins on a temporary basis following the sacking of Johannes Hoff Thorup. In his short spell, he managed a solid 0-0 draw against Middlesbrough and followed it up with an exciting 4-2 win over Cardiff City, raising hopes that he might land the job full-time.
However, despite the momentum and support from fans, Norwich’s sporting director Ben Knapper dashed any such hopes, confirming the club would look externally for a new permanent manager. That decision reportedly left Wilshere disappointed, leading to a mutual agreement for his exit.
The 32-year-old had previously shown managerial promise by guiding Arsenal’s U18s to the FA Youth Cup final. While he was once linked to the MLS side Colorado Rapids, no move materialized, and his short but eventful spell at Norwich looked like it might be his big break.
Now back on the market, Wilshere has returned to punditry with TNT Sports as he weighs up his next move in management. Though this chapter at Carrow Road closes unexpectedly, Wilshere’s coaching ambitions are far from over.
