Jonny Evans has officially retired from professional football after making his final appearance for Manchester United during their post-season tour of Asia. The veteran defender, who has had an illustrious career spanning multiple clubs, signed off with an impressive 14 trophies to his name.
Evans, 37, played his last match in United’s 3-1 victory over Hong Kong, where he was substituted at halftime. His retirement follows his earlier decision to step away from international football in August 2024, after earning 107 caps for Northern Ireland.
Throughout his career, Evans represented clubs including Manchester United, Royal Antwerp, Sunderland, West Brom, and Leicester City, amassing 537 competitive professional appearances. His trophy cabinet includes three Premier League titles, a Champions League victory, and multiple domestic cup triumphs.
Evans was part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s last title-winning squad in 2013, marking a significant chapter in United’s history. His departure from the club and subsequent retirement closes the book on a remarkable career that saw him evolve into one of the most respected defenders in English football.
