Kylian Mbappé Shines as Real Madrid Seal Victory in Emotional Farewell for Ancelotti and Modrić

Real Madrid concluded their 2024–25 LaLiga campaign with a 2–0 victory over Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday, May 24, 2025. The match was marked by emotional farewells for manager Carlo Ancelotti and midfielder Luka Modrić, both of whom are departing the club. 

Kylian Mbappé scored both goals, securing the win for Los Blancos. His first came in the 38th minute, capitalizing on a rebound after his initial penalty attempt was saved. He added a second in the 83rd minute, finishing a well-placed pass from Vinícius Júnior. Mbappé's performance not only clinched the victory but also solidified his position as LaLiga's top scorer for the season.  

The Bernabéu crowd paid tribute to Ancelotti and Modrić with banners and ovations. Modrić, who has spent 13 years with the club, was substituted in the 85th minute to a standing ovation and a guard of honour from his teammates. Post-match, both he and Ancelotti addressed the fans, expressing gratitude for their support.  

Real Madrid finished the season in second place, just one point behind champions Barcelona. Despite a trophyless season, the club celebrated the contributions of two of its most influential figures, marking the end of an era at the Bernabéu.
