Patrice Evra Mourns Sister's Passing, Misses Europa League Final
Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has announced the passing of his sister, who died at the age of 56 after a courageous 20-year battle with cancer. As a result, Evra will not attend the UEFA Europa League final between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
Evra, a key figure in United's 2008 UEFA Champions League triumph, shared the news via social media, expressing his deep sorrow and paying tribute to his sister's resilience. In a heartfelt video message, he stated:

> "Hi guys. I was supposed to come to Bilbao tomorrow for the final in person to show you support, sharing my positive energy. But unfortunately, I have to go to Paris for the funeral of my sister on the same day as the final. She was 56, fighting against cancer for 20 years."

Despite his absence, Evra delivered an impassioned rallying cry to Manchester United players, urging them to exhibit the same strength and determination his sister demonstrated throughout her illness. He encouraged the team to "fight" and "bleed for this shirt," emphasizing the importance of the match for the club's future and its global fanbase.

Evra also expressed his support for United's manager, Ruben Amorim, and reminded the players of the significance of securing Champions League qualification. He concluded his message by stating, "I will be far away. I'm counting on you."

Manchester United will face Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final on Wednesday night, with both teams vying for a coveted spot in next season's UEFA Champions League.
