Chelsea Poised to Secure João Pedro from Brighton

Chelsea FC has reportedly reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign 23-year-old Brazilian forward João Pedro. The deal is understood to exceed £50 million and includes a seven‑year contract, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2032 .
Pedro, a three‑cap Brazil international who joined Brighton from Watford in 2023 for a then‑club‑record transfer, enjoyed a strong season—finishing with 20 goals in 40 appearances and ten Premier League strikes during the 2024/25 campaign . Despite disciplinary issues late in the season, including a red card in April and a training ground incident in May, Brighton has opted to cash in at a premium .

A medical is reportedly scheduled before the transfer is officially confirmed. Once completed, Pedro is expected to join Chelsea’s travelling squad for the latter stages of the FIFA Club World Cup in the USA, pending his clearance before the July 3 registration deadline .

Although Newcastle United also expressed interest—and even submitted bids reportedly up to £58 million—Pedro is believed to have declined their approach, choosing Chelsea as his preferred destination. Brighton may still hold out for a fee closer to £60 million, so negotiations may continue .

This would add another significant attacking option to Chelsea's summer recruitment drive under manager Enzo Maresca, following Romelu Lukaku’s departure and recent signings like Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens
