He reiterated that any exit would be temporary: “If he leaves, it will be on a loan.”
Deco added: “He is 23 but people talk about him like he's 30. He still has a lot to grow and learn.”
A product of La Masia, Fati made his first-team debut in August 2019 at just 16, becoming Barça's youngest ever La Liga scorer. Wearing the number 10 shirt since 2021, expectations were high. In 117 appearances, he contributed 29 goals and 10 assists over four seasons. However, persistent injuries have impacted his development, sidelining him for over 600 days across 123 matches. In September 2023, he joined Brighton & Hove Albion on loan, showing flashes of promise, but failed to secure a permanent role. This season under manager Hansi Flick, Fati's playing time dropped below 300 minutes with no goals recorded.
A loan move to AS Monaco is reportedly close to completion, with a €20 million option to buy. Chelsea had shown interest earlier, but Monaco are now leading the race. Other clubs expressing interest include AC Monza, Porto, Girona, Villarreal, Juventus, Sevilla, Real Betis, Valencia, West Ham, Tottenham, Fenerbahçe, and BeÅŸiktaÅŸ. Saudi Arabian clubs reportedly made offers, but Fati prefers to continue in Europe. During the January transfer window, he turned down over four offers to stay at Barça and fight for his place.
At 23, Fati remains a player with significant potential, and the club believes regular game time elsewhere could help him rediscover the form that once made him one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.
