Enzo Maresca has confirmed a 28-man Chelsea squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, with the team set to depart on Friday. Chelsea will face Los Angeles FC in Atlanta, before taking on Flamengo and ES Tunis in Philadelphia, with the first match scheduled for Monday.
The squad includes several recent signings such as Liam Delap, Dário Essugo, Mamadou Sarr, and goalkeeper Mike Penders. Delap has been handed the No. 9 shirt following his move from Ipswich Town, while Essugo will wear No. 14, previously worn by João Félix. Sarr takes the No. 19 jersey, and Penders has been allocated No. 39 as the third-choice goalkeeper.
Several high-profile names are not included in the travelling party. João Félix, Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Axel Disasi, Wesley Fofana, and Djordje Petrovic are among those omitted. The absences are due to a range of reasons including injuries, loan spells, or simply not being part of Maresca’s immediate plans. Fofana continues his rehabilitation, while Petrovic is said to have requested not to travel as he evaluates his future.
