Chivu previously managed Parma, where he helped the team avoid relegation in Serie A. Before that, he worked within Inter’s youth setup, coaching various age groups before stepping into senior management. His appointment comes after Inter’s failed attempt to sign Cesc Fabregas from Como.
His first major test will be Inter’s Club World Cup campaign, with their opening match against Monterrey scheduled for June 17 at the Rose Bowl in California.
Chivu’s contract reportedly includes an annual salary of €2.5 million ($2.85 million). His arrival follows Inter’s heavy 5-0 defeat to PSG in the Champions League final, which led to Inzaghi’s departure.
This marks a significant chapter in Chivu’s career, as he returns to the club where he won three Serie A titles and the 2010 Champions League as a player.
