Arsenal Football Club has announced that defender Gabriel Magalhães has signed a new long-term contract, extending his stay at the club until at least 2029. This development marks a significant reinforcement of the team's defensive lineup and underscores the club's commitment to securing key players for the future.
Since joining Arsenal from French club Lille in September 2020, Gabriel has established himself as a central figure in the team's defense. The 27-year-old Brazilian has made over 160 appearances for the Gunners, contributing 17 goals—a notable achievement for a center-back. He has formed a formidable partnership with William Saliba, with whom he shares a strong on-field chemistry, enhancing the team's defensive solidity.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has consistently praised Gabriel's qualities, highlighting his work ethic and the positive impact he has on the team's performance. Arteta emphasized the importance of partnerships in defense, noting that Gabriel and Saliba complement each other well, contributing to the team's success.

Gabriel's new contract also addresses previous speculation regarding his future, including reported interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia. The extension effectively ends any uncertainty, affirming his commitment to Arsenal's long-term goals.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the new deal, Gabriel stated, "I'm very happy to sign this new contract with Arsenal, because it's such a big club. It's my dream, and today is the best day of my life. I'm so happy to extend my contract here." He further emphasized his desire to win trophies with the club, stating, "In the future, I want to win games for Arsenal, I want to win trophies with Arsenal, and stay here for a long time because it's my home."

This contract extension is part of Arsenal's broader strategy to secure the futures of key players, with ongoing discussions regarding new deals for Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and emerging talents like Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri. The club's proactive approach aims to build a cohesive and competitive squad for the upcoming seasons.
