Jadon Sancho is set to depart Chelsea at the conclusion of his loan spell on June 30, 2025, after the club and the player failed to reach an agreement on personal terms for a permanent transfer.
Despite an initial obligation to buy clause in the loan agreement, Chelsea has opted to pay a £5 million penalty fee to Manchester United to forgo the £25 million purchase option .
During his tenure at Stamford Bridge, Sancho made 41 appearances across all competitions, contributing five goals and ten assists. Notably, he scored in the UEFA Europa Conference League final against Real Betis, aiding Chelsea in securing a fourth-place finish in the Premier League and qualification for the Champions League .
However, inconsistencies in performance and the inability to agree on personal terms, particularly concerning his reported £250,000-a-week wage demands, led Chelsea to reconsider a permanent deal . The club is now exploring alternative options to strengthen their attacking lineup, including interest in Borussia Dortmund's Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho .
Sancho's future remains uncertain as he returns to Manchester United, where he is not currently in the plans of the new manager, Ruben Amorim. The 24-year-old winger may seek opportunities elsewhere during the upcoming transfer window .
