Jorginho has completed a move to Brazilian side Flamengo, signing a three-year deal following his departure from Premier League club Arsenal.
The Italian midfielder, who was born in Brazil, returns to his native country after spending over a decade playing in Europe. His contract with Arsenal was set to expire this summer, allowing him to leave as a free agent.
Jorginho joined Arsenal from Chelsea in January 2023 and made a number of key appearances during his time at the Emirates. Despite his contributions, the club chose not to extend his deal, paving the way for his move to Flamengo.
Flamengo had shown interest in Jorginho for several months, and the agreement was finalized with the help of head coach Filipe LuÃs, a former Brazil international and Chelsea defender. The 33-year-old is expected to bring valuable experience to the Flamengo midfield as they prepare for both domestic competitions and the FIFA Club World Cup.
This signing marks a new chapter for Jorginho as he returns to Brazil with the goal of continuing his successful career on home soil.
