Manchester United have secured the signing of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a reported fee of £62.5 million. The 26-year-old has agreed to a five-year contract, with an option for an additional year, positioning him among the club's top earners.
Cunha's new deal sees him earning a weekly wage of £200,000, a significant increase from the £120,000 per month he received at Wolves. This salary places him on par with fellow Brazilian Antony, making them joint fourth-highest earners at Old Trafford. Only Casemiro (£375,000), Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford (both £325,000), and Mason Mount (£250,000) currently earn more.
The club's wage structure may undergo further changes, as several high-profile players are linked with potential moves away. Bruno Fernandes has reportedly received a lucrative £700,000-a-week offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal, accompanied by a £100 million transfer bid. Despite this, head coach Ruben Amorim is keen to retain the midfielder's services. Marcus Rashford is also attracting interest, notably from Barcelona, following a reported fallout with Amorim.
Cunha's arrival is part of Manchester United's broader strategy to revamp their attacking options. The Brazilian forward had an impressive stint at Wolves, scoring 27 goals in 65 appearances.
