Burnley have agreed a deal with Manchester City to sign experienced England right-back Kyle Walker on a two-year contract, with the transfer fee reported to be around £5 million, potentially rising through performance-related bonuses .
At 35, Walker brings a wealth of top-flight experience, having won six Premier League titles among his 17 major trophies during an eight-year stay at Manchester City . He also contributes significantly at international level, currently with 96 England caps, and will aim to reach the coveted century mark while playing regularly in the Premier League .
Walker spent the latter half of the 2024–25 season on loan at AC Milan, making 16 appearances, after indicating he wished to move on from City. The loan move reflected his diminished role in Pep Guardiola’s plans, with Walker having been left out of the Club World Cup squad . AC Milan ultimately chose not to make the switch permanent.
Remaining in the North West of England was a priority for Walker. He received interest from Everton and Fenerbahçe but opted for Burnley, citing family considerations and the opportunity to reunite with manager Scott Parker, his former Tottenham teammate .
The move is expected to be officially completed once Walker passes his medical, though he is already in training with the newly-promoted Clarets . This marks Burnley’s fourth summer acquisition, following signings of Axel Tuanzebe, Quilindschy Hartman, and Max Weiss . The club is actively reinforcing its squad to meet the demands of Premier League survival.
