Flamengo secured the 26-year-old from AC Milan for a reported fee of around €9 million (approximately R$58 million). The signing comes as a direct replacement for Wesley, who is set to join Roma in Italy.
Emerson brings valuable experience from European football, having previously played for Real Betis, Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, and most recently AC Milan. During the 2024–25 season, he featured in 26 matches for the Italian club. At Tottenham, he made 101 appearances, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
This move marks Flamengo’s second major signing in the current transfer window, following the recent arrival of Spanish midfielder Saúl ÑÃguez. Emerson, who has 10 senior caps for Brazil, has long expressed a desire to play for Flamengo and hopes the move will help him regain a place in the national team.
