Fayose Attends APC Rally, Endorses Tinubu and Oyebanji but Insists He Won’t Leave PDP

On Monday, July 28, 2025, former Ekiti State governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart Ayodele “Ayo” Fayose surprised political observers by appearing at an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Ado Ekiti, the state capital. 

Despite wearing a PDP-branded cap, Fayose took to the podium to endorse President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027, as well as Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s reelection campaign ahead of the 2026 Ekiti gubernatorial vote.

At the event, he reiterated that while his endorsements reflect his personal convictions, he remains a committed PDP member and has no intention of defecting to the APC. He said, “I am not a member of this party (APC) and I will never be.”

According to the Daily Post Nigeria, Fayose described himself as “the record‑holder of election results in Ekiti,” citing his electoral dominance across all 16 local government areas and over 58 wards. He challenged voters to ensure Governor Oyebanji achieves a clean sweep in the upcoming election, encouraging supporters to turn out in large numbers.
