Maresca Confirms Noni Madueke’s Move to Arsenal Was Player’s Own Decision

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Noni Madueke is set to join Arsenal, making it clear that the decision to leave was entirely the player’s own. “If a player wants to leave, then managing that situation becomes difficult,” Maresca said. “And yes, Noni decided to leave.”
He added, “No one told Noni he had to go. It was his choice. If he is happy, then we are happy too.” Speaking during a press conference, Maresca reiterated his stance applies to all players in the squad: “I want only those players who are content to be here. Those who aren’t satisfied are free to leave.”

Madueke has reportedly agreed personal terms with Arsenal on a five-year contract. Both clubs are said to have settled on a transfer fee in the region of £50–52 million. The winger has now returned to the UK to undergo his medical and finalize the move.

Chelsea’s recent attacking signings, including João Pedro and Jamie Gittens, have increased competition in the squad—possibly influencing Madueke’s decision to seek more playing time elsewhere.
