P. Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, was acquitted of three out of five federal charges today following a high-profile trial in New York. After three days of jury deliberations, the former music executive was found not guilty on two counts of sex trafficking and one count of racketeering conspiracy.
However, he was convicted on two counts related to the transportation of individuals for the purpose of prostitution. Each of those charges carries a potential sentence of up to ten years in prison. Sentencing is expected in the coming weeks.
Following the announcement of the verdict, celebrations broke out among supporters gathered outside the courthouse. In scenes of ecstatic relief, some fans poured baby oil on one another—referencing a detail from the trial—while one woman removed her bright blue wig and danced in her underwear, covered in oil.
Inside the courtroom, Combs was seen kneeling and embracing members of his legal team after hearing the verdict. Though he avoided conviction on the most serious charges, the two guilty verdicts still carry serious implications.
Further court proceedings, including potential bail decisions and sentencing recommendations, are expected soon.
