Viktor Gyökeres and his agent Hasan Çetinkaya are en route to London to finalise his transfer to Arsenal.
The Swedish striker is scheduled to undergo a medical in London, ahead of a move that appears destined to be his only choice this summer. With personal terms for a five‑year deal already agreed, Gyökeres is expected to don Arsenal’s iconic No. 14 jersey—a homage to club legend Thierry Henry.
Arsenal have reached a full agreement with Sporting CP, reportedly paying approximately €63.5 million (£55m) upfront, plus up to €10 million (£8.7m) in performance-related add-ons.
Gyökeres’ agent Hasan Çetinkaya has flown to London to conclude the deal. While some reports suggest he waived around €7 million in agent fees to expedite negotiations, financial analysts have questioned the plausibility of that claim.
Sporting granted Gyökeres permission to undergo his medical in advance, signalling the final stages of a drawn‑out transfer saga. The player, who missed Sporting’s preseason training amid stalled negotiations, has reportedly made Arsenal his sole preferred destination.
Gyökeres arrives with an outstanding record at Sporting—54 goals in 52 appearances last season and no fewer than 97 goals across 102 matches during his two years in Portugal. His signing represents a long-awaited injection of elite striking power for Arsenal.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is expected to integrate Gyökeres into the squad ahead of their preseason tour in Asia, with official confirmation of the transfer anticipated once the medical is successfully completed.
