Zlatan Ibrahimović didn’t hold back after Inter Miami’s 4–0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup Round of 16. The former Barcelona and AC Milan striker took a swipe at Lionel Messi’s team, saying it wasn’t Messi who lost, but Inter Miami.
He claimed the Argentine plays with “statues” instead of real teammates and described the players as moving “like they were carrying bags of cement.” According to Ibrahimović, this version of Messi is not the one the world knows, insisting he could still perform at the highest level if surrounded by a proper team.
Ibrahimović went further, calling Inter Miami a “circus” and referred to Messi as a “big ghost who plays in a circus.” He argued that Messi’s underwhelming performance was more about the poor quality around him than any decline in his ability.
